Paeghtals

Landscape restoration - Dinton, Buckinghamshire

An ongoing restoration project reconnecting a garden to the landscape

Paeghtals, or Pyghtle (an ancient Anglo-Saxon word meaning "small parcel of land, a small enclosure, a croft"), is an interesting site, once used as organic farmland but had since fallen to neglect. The area sits on natural springs and a large pond was created 20 years or so at the edge of a wooded area at the Northern end of the site.

The area has been reunited with the neighbouring house and garden and the client wishes to provide a continuation from the existing garden into this new area of extended landscape, whilst preserving it's strong spirit of place, Genius Loci.

Project duration: Ongoing
Size of project: 7 acres
