The Thicket

Private residential garden design, Buckinghamshire

Creating useable levels

Following years of tenancy the owner wished to redevelop the garden pre-relocation back to the property.

Affording wonderful elevated views of the woodland beyond, trees in poor health in the garden were removed. The design objective was to terrace the garden to overcome the gradient, creating 3 useable areas – linear granite paving and hardwood decking seating areas by the house, a level lawn and a utility area for the shed and rear access.

Planting pockets were incorporated at the different levels with low maintenance planting schemes.

A weighty stone pagoda picked up along the client travels was made into a water feature, ‘floating’ on a pool with water cascading down the side – particularly stunning alongside planting and back lit at night.
